Virtual Speaker Series Connects Manufacturers to STEM East Network
The Virtual Speaker Series recently featured an enlightening session with STEM East, attended by the Greene County and Lenoir County Manufacturing Associations. During this event, members learned about STEM East’s collaborative efforts with regional businesses, school districts, and economic development offices to provide real-world STEM learning opportunities for students across the region. The session highlighted the significant impact of a $15 million grant from the NC General Assembly received last year, aimed at enhancing connections between public school students and career opportunities in Eastern North Carolina. Guest speakers included Trey Goodson, David Lewis, and Donna Phillips, who shared insights into how STEM East builds networks to support real-world educational experiences that align with local career opportunities. This initiative not only fosters educational growth but also strengthens the workforce pipeline in the region.
