Interstate I-42 Within The Region Becomes Official With New Signage
The U.S. 70 Bypass around Goldsboro is currently being rebranded as Interstate 42. This involves replacing 82 metal signs and updating the mile markers and exit numbers. An additional 108 existing signs are being modified to display the I-42 shield. The sign replacement process has already begun, resulting in occasional daytime lane closures over the next several weeks.
This upgrade will significantly benefit the North Carolina Global TransPark Economic Development Region and its partners by improving connectivity with military bases, ports, and cities in eastern N.C. It will also positively impact businesses, commuters, and freight movement, driving new investments and revitalizing local industries.
