This past July, EDR’s very own Mark Pope embarked on an exciting journey across the pond to the United Kingdom for the renowned Farnborough International Airshow. This premier event showcased the latest innovations in the aerospace, aviation, and defense industries, drawing over 100,000 visitors and boasting an impressive lineup of 1500 exhibitors from over 60 countries.

Mark Pope represented the North Carolina Global TransPark Economic Development Region at this prestigious event. The NC Global TransPark is a magnet for aerospace, aviation, and defense industries looking to thrive. The park’s 11,500-foot runway is a perfect fit for companies in these sectors, making it an ideal hub for growth and development.

Secretary Machelle Sanders from the NC Department of Commerce, Christopher Chung, CEO of EDPNC, Marqueta Welton, Chief of Staff at the NC Department of Commerce, and Anders Victor, Director at EDPNC, were also present along with Joe Melvin, Vice President of North Carolina’s Southeast. These economic leaders met with representatives from Airbus, a major player in the aerospace industry. This meeting was key as Spirit AeroSystems (Kinston, NC) manufactures Airbus components.
