Wayne County Leadership Institute Tour

The Wayne County Leadership Institute, consisting of department leaders throughout Wayne County, toured multiple sites within Wayne County and the EDR region Friday.

The tour started at the Goldsboro Business Campus and then the ParkEast Industrial Park in Goldsboro, where new building construction and park development were shown. The next stop was the Lenoir Community College Aerospace and Advanced Manufacturing Center, where Dawn Kantz led a tour of the equipment and resources used to help train our region’s aviation workforce.

While at LCC, North Carolina Global TransPark’s Preston Hunter presented on recent progress and the important role the NCGTP, with its 11,500 ft runway, serves. This was followed by a discussion on how key a regional partnership is, by EDR’s Mark Pope. Afterward, the group toured North Carolina Global TransPark’s Draken International and flyExclusive.

This tour was for Wayne County department leaders to see what the North Carolina Global TransPark Economic Development Region and its partners (Greene, Lenoir, and Wayne Counties and the NCGTP) are doing to promote and support economic development in eastern NC. The growing businesses and expansion projects featured on this tour prove that economic development doesn’t stop at county lines; the benefits of their growth reach throughout eastern NC!
